WILD TALES
ABOUT "WILD TALES"
‘Wild Tales’ is an independently produced documentary series about the natural world. Each episode explores a different topic or subject, including wildlife species, conservation projects, photography, or even the work of individuals who have dedicated their lives to preserving nature.
Ep. 1 - The Call Of The Wolf
Episode description
The Iberian wolf is a subspecies endemic to the Iberian Peninsula, which has persisted in the Portuguese landscape for thousands of years of intense human occupation. It once inhabited the whole country, but is now only found in certain areas of the north and is classified as ‘Endangered’. The wolf has always been an animal that has aroused conflicting feelings in humans. But is the wolf really as dangerous as children’s stories would have us believe? In this episode, João Ferreira, a Portuguese nature photographer from Braga who has dedicated himself to photographing the Iberian wolf, asserts that this large carnivore is not a dangerous animal and will share everything he knows about this beautiful subspecies.
Ep. 2 - Berlengas: The Echo Of The Island
Episode description
The Berlengas archipelago, off the coast of Peniche, is a place of extraordinary natural beauty. With dramatic cliffs, endemic vegetation and colonies of seabirds, this place is a unique wildlife sanctuary. In this episode of the Wild Tales series, we explore the biodiversity of the Berlengas and the LIFE Berlengas project, an initiative that ran from 2014 to 2019 and aimed to ensure the conservation of habitats and threatened species through sustainable management that integrates fishing, tourism and the local community.
Throughout the video, we explore the main challenges facing the archipelago, from invasive species to the accidental capture of birds in fishing gear, and we show how the project implemented concrete strategies that made all the difference, allowing nature to recover and thrive.
